If you're considering an electric vehicle in Quebec, the all-new 2026 Nissan LEAF offers a fresh crossover design, simplified charging, and a spacious cabin. Below, we answer the most common questions Canadian buyers ask about this third-generation EV.
What Body Style Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF?
The 2026 LEAF is a compact electric crossover. Nissan moved away from the hatchback shape of previous generations and gave the LEAF a taller, more SUV-like stance. The new design improves aerodynamics with a 0.26 drag coefficient and adds practical touches like motorized flush front door handles and concealed rear door handles in the C-pillar. The result is a modern crossover that seats 5 passengers and offers up to 55.5 cubic feet of cargo space when you fold the second-row seats.
What Trims Are Available?
The 2026 LEAF is offered in four trims: S, S+, SV+, and PLATINUM+. Each trim builds on the last with more features and technology.
S is the entry-level trim with a smaller 53-kWh battery and 174 hp. It arrives later in the model year.
S+ starts at $44,998 and is the most affordable trim available at launch. It features a 75-kWh battery, 214 hp, and is rated at 488 km of range. Standard equipment includes dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and the NACS charging port for access to Tesla Superchargers.
SV+ starts at $47,998 and adds ProPILOT Assist, regenerative braking paddles, heated steering wheel, the Divide-N-Hide Cargo System, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Range is rated at 463 km.
PLATINUM+ starts at $52,798 and is the top-tier trim. It includes a Bose Personal Plus sound system with 10 speakers (including front headrest speakers), an electrically dimming panoramic moonroof, frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic windshield wipers with rain sensor, and 19-inch wheels. Range is rated at 417 km.

What Charging Options Does the LEAF Offer?
The 2026 LEAF features two charging ports. A J1772 port on the driver's side handles Level 2 charging at home and most public chargers. A NACS fast-charge port on the passenger side unlocks access to Tesla Superchargers across Canada. The LEAF can charge at up to 150 kW and supports Plug & Charge capability, which means you simply plug in at compatible stations without needing an app or card.
At a compatible DC fast charger, the LEAF recharges from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes. For home charging, add $300 to $400 per year to your electricity bill if you drive around 20,000 km annually and do 85% of your charging at home.
The first 200 Canadian customers also receive a free home charger.
How Much Power and Range Does the LEAF Deliver?

The base S trim uses a 130-kW electric motor producing 174 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 53-kWh battery. The S+, SV+, and PLATINUM+ trims use a 160-kW motor producing 214 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque, paired with a larger 75-kWh liquid-cooled battery pack.
Range varies by trim:
- S+: 488 km
- SV+: 463 km
- PLATINUM+: 417 km
The difference in range comes down to equipment weight and wheel size. The PLATINUM+ carries more features and rides on larger 19-inch wheels, which slightly reduces efficiency compared to the lighter S+ on smaller wheels.
What Technology and Safety Features Are Included?
S and S+ trims feature dual 12.3-inch screens, while SV+ and PLATINUM+ step up to dual 14.3-inch screens with Google built-in. All trims include wireless smartphone integration.
ProPILOT Assist is standard on SV+. This system helps with steering, acceleration, and braking on highways, reducing driver fatigue on longer trips.
The PLATINUM+ adds a Bose Personal Plus sound system with 10 speakers. The front headrest speakers let you focus phone calls or navigation directions only to the front seat, so you don't disturb passengers.
All trims include two front USB Type C ports. SV+ and PLATINUM+ add two rear USB Type C ports and a wireless phone charger.
Does the LEAF Offer Vehicle-to-Load Capability?
Yes. All S+, SV+, and PLATINUM+ trims include vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which provides 1,500 watts of power. You can use the J1772 port on the driver's side with an adapter to power tools, camping equipment, or emergency backup devices. The PLATINUM+ adds a dedicated V2L plug in the cargo area for easier access.
What Makes the 2026 LEAF Different from Previous Generations?
The 2026 LEAF is a complete redesign. Nissan gave it a crossover body style, improved aerodynamics, and a liquid-cooled 75-kWh battery pack. The NACS charging port is new for 2026 and opens up access to Tesla's Supercharger network across Canada. The dual 14.3-inch screens and Google built-in are also new, replacing the older infotainment system.
The interior is more spacious thanks to a redesigned flat floor beneath the dashboard and a slimmer centre console. The PLATINUM+ offers 64-colour ambient lighting and an electrically dimming panoramic moonroof.
