Spinelli Cares About the Environment
Aware that the automobile industry generates an important quantity of waste, the Spinelli Group adopted measures to protect the environment. Recycling procedures were put in place in each of our dealerships for old tires, used motor oil, various liquids, filters, metal, plastic as well as paper. The Spinelli Group continually works to diminish the use of paper and paperboard to protect our environment.
Recycling Paper and Paperboard
The Spinelli Group participates actively in recycling paper and paperboard. Recycling bins are available to all our employees in our various locations. In addition, we requested of many of our suppliers that they submit all communications electronically as opposed to traditionally using paper.
Recycling Used Oil
Spinelli benefits from tanks used to recuperate oil which will be transformed and recycled into new oil in order to minimize the negative effects on our environment. For more information: www.veolia.com
Used oil is oil that, after utilization, becomes contaminated. With altered properties, used oil cannot continue to work efficiently. This is the case with motor lubricants, hydraulic liquids, oil for metal, insulating oils and cooling liquids. Motor lubricants represent 45% of all recuperated oils.
A litre of oil can contaminate a million litres of water. In Quebec, about 30 million litres of used oil are not recuperated by the network of certified collectors. In addition, this oil not accounted for cannot be burned under proper supervision, and can therefore be found in our sewer system.
The Spinelli Group offers to all its clients the possibility to recuperate their oil in our reserved tanks available at all our dealerships.
Water-Based Paint at the Body Shop
Both of Spinelli's body shop departments use water-based paint with no solvents, and have done so since March 2008. This new paint is not only better for the environment but also less harmful for the employees using it. Spinelli is proud to be a pioneer in the industry, since the utilization of water-based paint has been mandatory since 2009 only.
Batteries Collecting
The battery manufacturer follows the same procedure and collects used batteries when delivering new ones. These finished batteries are stored at the manufacturer's recycling plant before starting the recycling procedure. When the required quantity is collected, the batteries are broken into 3 principal elements that will be recycled: the plastic case, the lead from the plates and the sulphuric acid of the electrolyte. Nova Pb recycles 90,000 metric tons of lead per year at its Ville Sainte-Catherine factory, on the South Shore of Montreal.
Bio-Circle Cleaning System*
As opposed to traditional parts cleaner systems that use petrol-based products (Varsol), the Bio-Circle cleaning system works with enzymes and bacteria that are heated to consume the oil. Collect and Recycling of Used Tires
Recycle-Québec is responsible for the collection of used tires on a monthly basis to then resell the tires to recycling companies specialised in rubber.

Recycling of electronic components
The Interecycle Company is responsible for collecting all broken or obsolete electronic components (computers, mobile phones, printers, monitors, etc.). These components are then recycled or refurbished. For more information: www.interlogic.ca
